Color Value in Second

The last couple of weeks, second graders have been studying color value and creating monochromatic collages. Using tinting and shading techniques, they first painted a value scale of a given color. On day two, they cut up a portion of their painting to create a scene, abstract or representational, of their choosing. They applied light values to dark values and vice versa to create contrast.
