Positive and Negative

Seventh graders were test pilots for their latest art project, trying out a product called Contrast-O paper. When the white side is cute gently with an X-acto blade and peeled off, black is revealed. It was a bit of a mind twister as they decided to create either a positive subject (the subject would appear black) or a negative subject (cutting out the background so that subject would appear white). This was the first time many of them had used an X-acto blade (good practice for next year). Their designs are wonderful -- this is so much harder than it looks!
