Native American Medicine Shields

First graders have completed their medicine shields. They began this project by closing their eyes and going on a vision quest to find their power animal. They then embarked on decorating their shields: they started with a pattern of geometric shapes around the perimeter; they drew their power animal in the center; they added symbols to represent something about themselves/their animal; and finally strung beads onto feather strings and attached them to their shields. I'm so proud of all of their focused creativity!
