In art class this week, we discussed how sometimes artists color with a "crazy" crayon and sometimes they color with a "calm" crayon. The class had fun acting out these roles in the auditorium before completing a practice sheet on inside/outside of the lines coloring. They then set out to color the birds they had drawn last week with calm crayons (and some had fun experimenting with both styles). Lastly, PreK looked at different kinds of lines and shapes on the smartboard and together we brainstormed what we could create out of them. They then received "books" with lines and shapes and transformed them into objects and animals on their own.
Last week when we drew the birds, students were delighted to learn
that the straightness or curve of the leg lines showed whether
the bird was standing or flying...great work PreK!
