Time for Paint Mixing

First graders finished their nighttime pumpkin scenes this week and they look spectacular! They were only given primary paint colors (red, yellow, blue) to create their pumpkins, leaves and moon. We discussed contour lines along with how the light would affect the pumpkin's color - you can really see how they worked to show this detail by varying the amount of red they added to their yellow. The finishing touch was the white glimmer of moonlight. I'm just blown away by their skills! Students absent on painting day created a scene with colored construction paper.
