Beautiful Abstracts
This week kindergarten finished their abstract paintings, full of color and hidden meaning. They began the project by analyzing the abstract works of Wassily Kandinsky. The first part of the project was painting with black in response to questions such as, if you'd rather go swimming paint a wavy line, if you'd rather go hiking paint a dashed line, etc. On day two, we turned up some Mozart (Kandinsky is believed to have had synesthesia) and they painted color into their canvases. This was a great learning lesson to review proper painting techniques and to plant the seed that abstract art may look crazy but there's meaning in there somewhere!
