Diving into the Ocean

I'm always amazed by the PreK students and this latest lesson really was incredible. We talked about value in art (the lightness and darkness of a color) and then after studying underwater pictures of the ocean and some whale murals by Wyland, the students set out to create an underwater scene. They mixed their own paint, tinting and shading the blue, and painted their perception of the ocean as it gets deeper and darker. Day two was all fun drawing underwater animals, cutting them out, and gluing them on. Jacques Cousteau would be so proud!
