In Proportion

Sixth grade warmed up for their self-portraits with contour drawings (one regular, one blind) of their shoes to train their eyes to follow and notice line detail. Then, after looking at facial sketches from Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks and an introduction to Vitruvian Man, they set out to draw themselves in correct proportion. They used the margins of their paper to practice their features and were challenged to write their names backwards, just as da Vinci had annotated his notebooks.
