Sweet Art

Before starting this project, sixth graders looked at the delicious paintings of American artist Wayne Thiebaud, his use of thick swirled oil paint to create icing, and his observation of light and shadow.  They then set out to create appetizing cakes of their own with great success. And although it was tough, they voted for the most delicious looking cake via secret ballet...congratulations to Milly Collins! As her prize, Milly got to choose the cake sixth graders will enjoy in their next art class. Soon I'll be baking lemon cakes with white icing...yummy!
